BOSTON (October 27, 2026) – Cohere Health®, the leading clinical intelligence and operations platform for health plans, today announced its support for prior authorization standardization goals announced by AHIP. The plans’ commitments aim to simplify prior authorization submissions for providers nationwide, with transparency for clinical documentation across 66 medical services.

Cohere Health’s approach to prior authorization is grounded in transparent and guided clinical evidence collection, and aligned with AHIP members' goals to quickly help patients access appropriate care. The Cohere Unify™ platform digitizes medical policies, enables portal, EHR, and FHIR API-based submissions, and delivers real-time authorization decisions that align directly with the standards outlined in AHIP’s commitments. The company’s workflows deliver 85% of prior authorization approvals in real time, on average, and achieve a 94% provider satisfaction rate for more than 800,000 provider users around the country. Today, 76% of providers say Cohere Health’s platform helps their patients gain faster access to care.

“Too many providers struggle with the burden of prior authorization, so we applaud industry efforts to simplify prior authorization," said Dr. Brian Covino, chief medical officer for Cohere Health. “Cohere Health is honored to be a trusted partner for numerous plans across all lines of business that signed on to AHIP’s prior authorization commitments. We champion a streamlined provider experience, speeding access to care and reducing administrative burden for providers.”

Led by AHIP, more than 60 health plans pledged to streamline and simplify prior authorization by January 1, 2027 and align industry practice with CMS-0057-F. Many of the health plans involved are Cohere Health clients. The company has also been an active participant in shaping interoperability standards through the Da Vinci Project Steering Committee, and its products already support FHIR-based electronic prior authorization.
